2018 wrap up
So a little over a year ago I started this website (and the Instagram account it is linked to) as a way to document my year out and see what happened.
So year is done...I thought I would wrap it up in neat little bow..
Miles ridden (on the open road) → 10,734 miles
Hours on the bike → 606 hrs (an average of 1 hour 40 mins per day)
Longest ride → 154 miles (6 hours 48 mins, averaging 22.7mph)
Longest race → CiCle Classic - 120 miles

Countries visited:
Spain Calpe - training - 2 months
Malta - Tour of Malta - 1 week
[France - traveled through]
Holland - Wim Hendrik - 2 days
Croatia - knocked on the border while training in Montenegro
Montenegro - Trofeji Kuci - 1 week
Albania - Training - 2 hours
Belgium - 2 trips, 2 kermesses, 2 days
America - family holiday - cycled across Golden Gate Bridge
Tenerife - Vulta la tenerife - 1 week
Trinidad and Tobago - Tour of Tobago - 1 week
As well as many domestic trips up and down the country for one day races, or UK stage races, I reckon I’ve slept in about 30 different places - everything from amazing hotels on the Montenegro coastline to Premier Inns and and teammate’s houses who put me up for a few nights.I’ve definitely had my eyes opened to what is out there and easy it is to travel. For my generation the world really is a small place. And to close it all out ……...from my last race of the year in Tobago in the Caribbean with our last on tropical boat cruise to within 24 hours being in my Uni night club with my flatmates.
My absolute best moment was subtly ignoring texts from my Mum and Dad about how the first race in Malta had gone and then sending them a video of me on the podium popping the champagne.
And my worst moment was first day in Tobago racing in 39 degree heat, 18 hours after getting off the plane against a highly acclimatized south american field.
For 2019 I have some different aims;
I’m going to keep this website going if for nothing else to keep a record of what happens so i can look back at it in years to come.
I want to get myself up for a good Uni work placement by getting good exam results this year at Uni.
I’m aiming to get my First Cat license which involves getting 200 points in the UK domestic race scene.
Wish me luck.
And a happy new year to all.
